Glenwood Preparatory School Trust

The ‘Glenwood Preparatory School Trust’ was registered in 2004, with a view to support the School’s efforts to pursue excellence in education.

The Trust’s major objectives are as follows:

  • To promote and advance the interests of the school, its pupils and staff.
  • To provide funds that will improve the academic and recreational facilities of the school.
  • To acquire or erect buildings for educational, recreational and accommodation purposes at and for the school.
  • To add or replace buildings.
  • To acquire or develop land that would be in the interest of the school.
  • To promote further or better amenities and incentives for the staff members in the interest of the school.
  • The purchase of movables, which will enhance the interests of the school.
  • To generally affect any improvements in the amenities of the school.

The Glenwood Preparatory School Trust funds will primarily be obtained from 2 major sources:

  • The school Aftercare facility, which is to be run by the Trust employed staff and known as the ‘Trust – School Aftercare Centre’.
  • To collect and appeal for monies and accept contributions in money or otherwise, whether by donation, bequest or any other legitimate means.

Projects

With the help of the Victor Daitz Foundation, a State-of-the-Art ‘Art Centre’ has been constructed on the East End of the school and will provide the ideal opportunity for pupils to develop their artistic creative talents.

In 2004, the Trust purchased a property adjoining the school’s South boundary.  The property, situated at 22 Lynton Avenue, has received a major renovation and today accommodates three of our Grade 1 classes.

Any party wishing to obtain more information about the Glenwood Preparatory School Trust is asked to contact the Principal of the school.

Victor Daitz House

With the unrelenting demand for quality education offered at Glenwood Prep, the Board of Governors has embarked on an expansion programme aimed at providing additional tuition space and also to improve the facilities that are currently on offer.  The Victor Daitz Foundation has recognised Glenwood Prep as being a School of Excellence and has thus assisted the school in financing some of its major developments.

A State-of-the-Art ‘Information and Technology Centre’ has been constructed on the East End of the school and will provide the ideal opportunity for pupils to keep up to date with all the IT developments and requirements.  With the development of additional classrooms being necessitated, additional funding was received from the Victor Daitz Foundation to build an additional level, which is the home to one grade 5 class and one grade 4 class.

The School applauds the contribution made by the Victor Daitz Foundation and is extremely grateful for the assistance in funding this project.  The facility was officially opened on 1 March 2007 and aptly named the ‘Victor Daitz House’.  The second level was officially opened on 21 September 2010.

Trust House

In 2004, the ‘Glenwood Preparatory School Trust’ purchased a property adjoining the school’s South boundary.  The property situated at 22 Lynton Avenue has received a major renovation and today accommodates three of our Grade 1 classes.

The Victor Daitz Foundation assisted the ‘Glenwood Prep School Trust’ in financing this development and the luxurious Air Conditioned classrooms are the ideal environment to accommodate the Grade 1 pupils entering Glenwood Prep for the first time.  The entry to this facility is from the school’s South end and the close proximity to the Junior playgrounds and ‘Trust-Aftercare Centre’ provides the ideal environment for the Grade 1’s to adapt to the demands of ‘Big School’.

Architect, Louis Van Loon, has created a magnificent home for the ‘Junior Grasshoppers’ and his contribution to Glenwood Prep’s pursuit of Educational Excellence is applauded. Trust House accommodated pupils for the first time in July 2006 and was officially opened on 1 March 2007.
