Known as “The School that Cares”, Glenwood Prep actively participates in numerous community outreach projects within and around its community. The high value system and the ethos of the school actively promotes kindness and compassion amongst its learners. This is evident by the ongoing outreach programmes to deserving communities.
To name a few, in 2017 our learners raised a total of R41662.00 for the “Feed the Babies Fund”, a fundraiser that feeds and clothes thousands of aids related orphans in the KwaZulu-Natal region. Since 2006 four annual sports scholarships are awarded to learners who come from previously disadvantaged backgrounds. These scholarships allow the learners the opportunity of receiving a top class education at Glenwood Preparatory School.
Our school Choir performs annually at a number of retirement centres, bringing great joy to those who contributed so much to society in general in their hey days.
The Glenwood Prep family is fully committed to community outreach projects and views the active participation of our learners as a priority in this deserving process. Since 2007, the School Community has collected funds to support the Durban Salvation Army Soup Kitchen, which provides a meal to many disadvantaged members of our society. In June 2009, another beneficiary to our charity collection drives was added – Janet Smit Huis, a retirement home in the Glenwood area.
Over the past couple years, Glenwood Prep has been supporting a Stanger based, disadvantaged school – Ensikeni. As a school we annually have drives for clothes, toys, books and food in order to support Ensikeni and their community. Glenwood Prep Principal, Mr. Noël Ingle, along with a handful of Grade 7 learners then travel to Ensikeni in order to personally hand over these donations to the school and spend the morning with them.
