D&D Chess Trials 2019

11 Glenwood Preparatory School pupils recently participated in the D & D Chess Trials. 4 pupils made the Durban and Districts Chess teams, they are: Bhairava Moodley (U14 Team), Nicolas Ackerman (U14 Team), Yanti Nunnan placed 3rd and made the U12 Team. Daaruk Kumarasamy our youngest chess player who participated, came 2nd and made the U10 Team.

Special mention must go to Daaruk Kumarasamy who also participated South African Junior Closed Chess Championship 2019 in Johannesburg. He finished 1st in under 8 open section. He received a medal and a trophy. Daaruk became the U8 open champion and he has been selected to play in various international chess tournaments (World Cadets, African Youth and Commonwealth). Well done Daaruk on this outstanding achievement.
